Krewe of Muses Parade

Founded in 2000, Muses made Mardi Gras history as the first all-female krewe to parade at night in Uptown New Orleans. What started as a few hundred women grew into one of Carnival’s biggest, boldest and most beloved parades — a glorious celebration of women, art, satire, sisterhood and New Orleans itself.
Named for the mythological goddesses of art and inspiration, Muses is famous for its wickedly funny floats, spectacular marching groups and those coveted, hand-decorated glitter shoes. Year after year, it has been voted the #1 parade in New Orleans’ Mardi Gras.
Bearded Oysters have been dancing with them since 2005.
For more than two decades, we’ve joined Muses on the streets in all our bearded, dancing, oyster-powered glory — celebrating women who make things, lead things, change things, laugh loudly, take up space and refuse to simply watch from the sidelines.
Muses celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2025, marking a quarter-century of women reshaping Carnival herstory in their own image.
